Prof. Tao Xie and Dr. Qian Zhao attended the Materials Research Society (MRS) Spring meeting (April 2014) held in San Francisco. Prof. Xie gave an invited talk at Symposium “Shape Programmable Materials”. The title of his talk was “New Wonders of Nafion: Shape Memory, Temperature Memory, and Reversible Actuation”. In this talk, he overviewed recent progresses in new applications of shape memory polymers and exploration of new shape memory behaviors for Nafion polymer. In the same meeting, Dr. Qian Zhao presented a poster on our recent hydrogel work (title: Controllable Responsive Deformation of a Bi-Strip Hydrogel based on Reversible Macroscopic Self-Assembly).
