谢涛教授于1993年毕业于浙江大学高分子专业,1996年及1997年分别获浙江大学高分子及比利时鲁汶大学化学系硕士,2001年获美国马萨诸塞大学博士学位。2001-2013年先后在美国通用汽车公司及休斯实验室担任高级主任研究员,2013年入选海外高层次人才全职回国工作,浙江大学求是讲席教授。
从事动态高分子网络的基础及应用研究,包括形状记忆高分子、动态共价网络、3D/4D打印。通讯作者论文发表于Nature(三篇)、Science、Nature Chemistry、Nature Sustainability等期刊,获90余项国内外专利授权。研究成果多次被国际权威科学媒体广泛报道,其中包括麻省理工技术综述,英国皇家化学会会刊《化学世界》,美国化学会会刊等。曾获美国Conte国家高分子研究中心杰出研究奖,美国通用汽车公司最高科学奖,美国制造工程师协会2013年研发100奖(R&D100 Award),2019年中国化学会高分子基础研究王葆仁奖,2016年获得国家杰出青年科学基金。
提出了“拓扑异构网络”的新概念并构建了理论框架,突破了现有知识体系中高分子材料结构性能受制于合成加工过程的局限;发现了首例热解离型光点击反应,创制了基于光固化缩聚反应的可闭环回收3D打印化学体系,攻克了高性能材料大面积打印的世界难题并实现产业化应用;建立了可逆相分离控制材料变形的新机制,构筑的无刺激变形行为克服了形状记忆高分子自问世以来长期存在的瓶颈,所研发材料已成功应用于解决卫星离轨的关键技术难题。当选美国化学会高分子材料分会(ACS PMSE)会士,目前担任国家基金委化学科学部专家咨询委员会委员。自2025年10月起,担任ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces期刊执行主编。
