近期代表性科研成果

I.    RAFT(细)乳液聚合及其过程强化规律研究

活性自由基聚合中活性链的双基终止被大幅度地降低,但也导致了其极慢的聚合速率。我课题组采用乳液或细乳液聚合,自由基被分隔在各乳胶粒内,可在提高自由基浓度(通过提高单位体积乳胶粒的个数)的同时借助这种“隔离效应”来抑制链终止反应,从而提高聚合速率和聚合物的分子量。活性(细)乳液聚合因此被认为是活性自由基聚合大规模工业应用最有可能采用的聚合方式。

 
 

 

 

然而,实验研究也发现,聚合过程的初期普遍存在乳液失稳、分子量失控、分子量分布偏宽等问题,导致了活性自由基(细)乳液聚合过程始终无法成功地实施。我课题组通过化工热力学理论模拟发现,在RAFT(细)乳液聚合反应的成粒初期,单体在乳胶粒的化学位大大低于单体液滴的化学位,从而推动单体从大量液滴向少量已成核的粒子迁移,引起“超级溶胀”,形成微米级的乳胶粒子,进而导致破乳;我课题组实验研究充分证实了“超级溶胀”机理,并发现降低油水界面能、提高共稳定剂用量可有效地抑制“超级溶胀”,从而可实施稳定的RAFT细乳液聚合和乳液聚合。我们揭示的这一“超级溶胀”机理被RAFT聚合的先驱Moteiro教授称之为‘superswelling’ theory,并分别被《Handbook of RAFT Polymerization》、《Handbook of Polymer Reaction Engineering》和《Chemistry and Technology of Emulsion Polymerisation》等收录,并被大量正面引用和评价。国内外同行根据这一机理和我们的建议,都较好地解决了乳液失稳问题。除此以外,我们建立了RAFT乳液聚合动力学模型、发现了粒子激活/失活链结构控制新规律,组成了RAFT乳液聚合的理论体系。在理论指导下,我们创立了合理设计双亲大分子RAFT结构、分段反应调控粒子数、后中和等系列新技术,在国际上率先实现了高分子量聚合产物的可控制备,产物分子量可超过50万,被认为改变了人们关于RAFT聚合可实现分子量范围的观念,在国际上通过活性自由基聚合率先制备出高性能嵌段共聚物,创制出高性能介电弹性体,上述研究成果为RAFT活性自由基聚合的工业化奠定了基础。

 
 

 

 

II.       RAFT细乳液界面聚合及纳米(中空)胶囊制备新方法

/纳米胶囊由于其独特的纳米结构可广泛应用于众多高技术领域。例如中空纳米颗粒,由于其独特的纳米结构,可以有效地调控材料的折光指数、导热系数、密度等物理参数,从而有广泛的应用前景。近十年间已发展了许多制备方法,但这些方法要么无法精确调控胶囊结构,要么制备的效率极低、不环保、难以实用。我们根据RAFT活性聚合特点和双亲聚合物自组装特性,建立了一种基于RAFT界面聚合制备纳米胶囊的新方法,该方法制备过程简单、高效、环保,非常适合于工业生产,可非常简便地在纳米尺度上精确地控制聚合物壳层的厚度和物化性质。

 
 

我们利用该方法在国际上首次制备得到不坍陷的壳层仅为10余纳米厚的纳米聚合物中空胶囊,并由此制备得到了聚合物纳米多孔防反射涂层,将可见光对玻璃的透过率从92%提高到99%,在太阳能电池、电子显示领域有重要应用。最近,我们又采用这种方法,率先在常压条件下制备出了超绝热的高分子材料(导热系数0.016W/Km,有望在建筑节能、制冷工业有重要应用价值。

 
 

 

III.              基于反应工程方法可控制备共聚物链结构新方法

我课题组开展了RAFT和ATRP共聚动力学、共聚单元序列结构与支链结构定制的研究。获得了共聚反应机理和动力学相关信息,并建立了共聚物链结构演化模型,以描述单体浓度及配比、共聚物分子量及其分布、共聚物组成、共聚单元末端与前末端的演变规律;进一步与半连续反应器模型相结合,提出了一个描述半连续活性自由基聚合过程的数学模型,进而以计算机程序的形式来操控共聚单体的进料速度,实现包括共聚单元序列分布在内的共聚物链结构的精确定制。我们利用RAFT乳液聚合可大幅度降低终止速率的特性,通过多步加料法,实现高分子量梯度共聚物的可控制备,制备出具有V形梯度组成的复杂聚合链结构,创制出新型的多形状记忆材料。
